Danny Fry
Professor Danny Fry, Connection Rio BJJ's 1st black belt, was born in Santiago/Chile with his hometown in Haiku, Maui. He has been training actively for over 15 years. He is a black belt under Professor Dennis Asche in both gi and no-gi. His main interests outside of Jiu Jitsu include surfing, snowboarding, art, and DJing.
Danny began training in 2006 in Hawaii at Maui Jiu-Jitsu Academy with Rickson Gracie black belt, Luis "Limoa" Heredia, earning his blue belt in 2008. That same year Danny moved to Bali to surf and DJ, and began training under Niko Han (Marc Laimon black belt) at Synergy BJJ. Danny's training at Synergy was mainly No-Gi based with a focus on grappling for MMA. He trained at Synergy until 2015, receiving his brown belt from Niko. After leaving Bali, Danny trained at gyms in many different cities and countries around the world, such as Werdum Academy (Venice Beach), Marcelo Garcia Academy (New York), Fight Sports Gym (Santiago, Chile) Roger Gracie Academy (London, UK) Alex Salomao Academy (Ibiza, Spain) and City Thong Gym (Vienna, Austria). In November 2018, Danny moved to Bend, Oregon and is now currently training under Professor Dennis Asche at Connection Rio Jiu-Jitsu Academy.
